Delivering reliable, compliant fire protection for critical service infrastructure.

About Harcom® Group Ltd

Harcom® Group Ltd is a specialist organisation dedicated to research, development, and innovation within the passive fire protection industry. We focus on the advancement of fire-resisting systems, delivering solutions that meet the evolving demands of modern construction and fire safety.

Our work is driven by a commitment to technical excellence and continuous improvement.

From concept through to product development, we combine rigorous testing, detailed design, and practical application to create fire resisting systems that perform as tested.

At the core of Harcom® Group is a team built on extensive industry experience and deep technical knowledge. With IFE-qualified professionals and a thorough understanding of current fire safety standards and regulations, we ensure that every solution we develop is both compliant and forward-thinking.

We take pride in supporting safer built environments, working collaboratively with partners, clients, and the wider industry to raise standards and deliver reliable, high-performance fire protection systems.

RESPONSIBILITY

Taking our
responsibility seriously

Working within the passive fire protection industry means our products and systems play a critical role in safeguarding lives, property, and the built environment—and we take that responsibility seriously.

We are committed to developing fire-resisting systems that are rigorously tested, fully compliant, and aligned with the latest fire safety standards and regulations. Our approach is rooted in integrity, ensuring that performance is never compromised and that our solutions deliver exactly as specified.

Responsibility also extends to how we operate as a business. We prioritise transparency, accountability, and collaboration across all our projects, working closely with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure the highest levels of safety and quality are achieved.

Alongside this, we recognise our role in supporting a more sustainable future. Through considered product development and material selection, we aim to minimise environmental impact while maintaining the performance and reliability expected within critical fire protection systems.

At every stage—from research and development to final application—Harcom® Group Ltd is committed to doing things the right way, because when it comes to fire safety, there is no margin for compromise.

Green Steel

As part of our commitment to more sustainable construction and reduced environmental impact, our factory has partnered with ArcelorMittal to utilise XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel in the manufacture of our enclosure systems. Produced in an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) powered by 100% renewable energy, this low-carbon steel supports a more responsible approach to manufacturing without compromising the quality, durability, or performance expected within critical passive fire protection applications.

The adoption of green steel represents a 65% reduction in material CO₂e* compared with standard steel alternatives, reinforcing our commitment to lowering embodied carbon across our products and systems.

Harcom® Group Ltd is committed to ensuring that sustainability is matched by technical assurance. The green (low carbon) steel used within our enclosures conforms to tolerances to EN10143 and composition to EN10346 DX51D+Z275**, maintaining the high standards of consistency and performance required within passive fire protection systems.

By integrating responsibly sourced materials alongside rigorous research, development, and testing, Harcom® Group Ltd continues to uphold its responsibility to protect people, property, and the built environment—while contributing to a more sustainable future for the construction industry.

* Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are available for both decarbonised and standard Green Steel Solutions (GSS), providing transparent and independently verified data to support carbon reduction claims

** Supporting technical and environmental documentation is available through our supplier, AMDS, ensuring complete transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.

Testing

Research, development & testing

Holistic Development

Innovation at Harcom® Group Ltd is driven by our dedicated Research and Development facility, where ideas are rigorously explored, tested, and refined. Our experienced technicians assess the fire-resisting properties of individual materials and, critically, how they perform together as complete systems.

Through detailed evaluation and hands-on development, we design and refine fire protection solutions to ensure they meet the demands of real-world applications. Our in-house capability allows us to carry out controlled, ad-hoc fire testing, enabling rapid iteration and continuous improvement throughout the development process.

Once systems have been optimised, they are progressed to independent, third-party accredited test facilities. Here, they undergo comprehensive fire testing under stringent conditions, replicating real-life fire scenarios to verify performance, integrity, and compliance.

This structured approach—from concept and in-house testing through to formal certification—ensures that every system developed by Harcom® Group Ltd is robust, reliable, and proven to perform when it matters most.

Our products

Harcom® Fire Resisting HV and Services Enclosures

Rigorously tested type A and type B in both horizontal and vertical orientations to meet the requirements of BS EN 1366-5:2021 and in line with BS 8519:2020 with the inclusion of T3 thermocouples. With additional testing for IP5X for dust protection and IPX6 water ingress for powerful water jets in accordance with BS EN 60529:1992+A2:2013.

Harcom® Fire Resisting Service Enclosure

BS EN 1366-5:2021

The Harcom® Fire Resisting Service Enclosure has been tested in both horizontal and vertical orientations to comply with the latest BS EN 1366-5:2021 standard.

It successfully met all requirements for integrity and insulation, providing 120 minutes of fire resistance from both internal and external fires. Preventing a temperature increase of 140°C above ambient as an average or no more than 180°C localised point.

In addition to fire performance testing, the Harcom® Fire Resisting Service Enclosure has undergone further assessment in accordance with BS EN 60529:1992+A2:2013, achieving IP5X dust protection and IPX6 water ingress protection ratings. The IPX6 water ingress test was conducted using a 12.5mm nozzle at a distance of 2.5–3 metres, operating at a flow rate of 100 litres per minute to simulate exposure to powerful water jets. Dust ingress testing for the IP5X classification was carried out over an 8-hour period with internal pressure reduction, demonstrating the enclosure’s ability to limit the ingress of dust while maintaining the integrity of the protected services. These additional certifications further reinforce the enclosure’s suitability for demanding environments where protection against both fire and environmental conditions is essential.

Designed with prefabricated modular sections for easy installation, the services are mounted into the lid and connected to internal channels. The underside then closes securely to fully enclose the services. This construction protects the services from external fire exposure and prevents fire from spreading between compartments through which the enclosure passes, even if a fire starts inside the enclosure.

This ensures compartmentation remains intact throughout the building, offering reassurance for the safe evacuation of occupants and providing clear access for fire-fighting teams.
